After the Fukushima nuclear power plant trouble, in my opinion, we should understand that science is a double-edged sword with both human progress and ruin and that it is necessary for sincerity to the science, appreciation for nature, and humbly accepting human's lack of power in order to avoid ruin.
In the field of nuclear engineering, since the object is large and dangerous, the experiment is not easy to be carried out in many cases, and numerical simulation is a very important research tool. In this lecture, the thermal fatigue strength prediction of the first wall of the fusion reactor is taken as an example and a concrete methodology for carrying out it by numerical simulation will be explained. Many elements which support the completion of the research are shown. You search for one paper written in English on a constitutive equation (You will be offered it if you request.) You should introduce their outlines in the end. it is sufficient to deepen the understanding of constitutive equation and its parameters, neural network, finite element method analysis, thermal fatigue, and so on. Prerequisites
We generally use Japanese in this class, while we learn a certain research paper written in English.
1. You have this class online. You have some work to do on some fieldwork days. Online classes will be held by opening the following Google Meet classrooms. https://meet.google.com/qmh-wswr-rvp 2. You take this class while thinking about how the research will be useful to society. Therefore, it is good, for examples, to watch TV news or to read newspapers to catch the social situation. Method Using AL・ICT
Project Based Learning/Discussion Debate/Presentation/Practice Fieldwork
Class schedule
You are sure to attend the 1st time, please. I will give you very important information for the class.
Every time, we conduct training in English translation. Every time submit a small report. The main contents of each lecture are described as follows. In addition, explanations of English papers will be given in parallel. pre introduction day 1 nuclear power (from physical view) day 2 nuclear power (from social view) day 3 nuclear power (from engineering view) day 4 fieldwork (to search the paper you explain) day 5 small discussion = Are we need a nuclear power generation? day 6 example of paper explained in the class and outline day 7 inelastic material properties and the constitutive equation (stress and strain) day 8 inelastic material properties and the constitutive equation (elastic) day 9 fieldwork (to search for the paper you introduce) day 10 inelastic material properties and the constitutive equation (viscoplastic) day 11 numerical simulation (finite element method) day 12 numerical simulation (Artificial intelligence) day 13 fieldwork (to prepare your presentation) day 14 your presentation Evaluation
No examination.
evaluation will be done by discussions, presentation and small reports. Those who have achieved the goal, that is, those who have a score of 60 or more, are granted credits, and given "A +", "A", "B", "C" and "D" according to their achievement status. You will know the detail on the first day. Feedback for students
In the discussion, you will get comments from lecturer and students. In the presentation of the paper written in English, the Japanese abstract submitted in advance will be checked by lecturer.
Some submissions can be referenced among students. Textbooks
Not specified. You will get a paper on nuclear engineering written by English.
