Goals and objectives
In "Responsibilities and safety in research activities", the goal is to understand "Basics of work safety", "Basics of safety design from work safety", "Environmental protection and environmental management".
As you carry out your research work in the laboratory, acquiring skills to ensure safety is the most basic skill improvement. In addition, as a researcher or engineer, it is essential to have basic knowledge of safety design and environmental protection. In this class, we first acquire basic knowledge of work safety to advance research, and aim to acquire skills to utilize that knowledge in safety design and environmental protection and environmental management.
Prerequisites
It is desirable to be assigned to a laboratory and have experience in basic research.
Review the environment of the laboratory to which you belong.
Method Using AL・ICT
Presentation/Support for self-learning using ICT

Class schedule
1. Basics of work safety
・ Before learning work safety, learn the definitions of terms such as hazards and risks.
・ Thorough awareness of “Protect yourself” is the basis of work safety.
Learn that.
I will explain the emergency response and the rules of Kogakuin University.
・ Learn the importance of awareness of danger prediction (KY).
・ Regarding various work such as “work at height”, “electric work” and “handling of chemical substances”,
I will explain what needs to be considered individually.
2. From work safety to the basis of safety design
I will explain the basics of risk assessment techniques.
・ Explanation of risk reduction measures using the results of risk assessment
 To do.
・ Based on the above knowledge, the basics of safety management methods will be explained.
3. Environmental protection and environmental management
・ I will explain the contents that have been problematic about the global environment these days.
・ This section describes how to convert the amount of power used into CO2 emissions and visualize it.
-Explains the legal classification of waste and the rules of Kogakuin University.
・ Explain the basics of the environmental management system.

-----The contents below are for the major-----

1. Principles of the safety: establishment of equipment, management scope, production system
"Principles of safety", (1) creation of safety, (2) continuity of safety, and (3) publication of safety. In order to achieve security (system) according to the principle, the security reporting means has the characteristic of asymmetric error output signal generation, and the reported safety information needs to depend on the structure of the related equipment.
Pre-learning and post-learning (3 + 1 = 4 hours)
Preliminary learning: Analyzing the causes of accidents from past accident cases, examining whether the accident can or cannot be prevented, and creating a PowerPoint for the essential differences. (Injury or accident)
Post-learning: Understand when a danger arises before an accident.

2. Absolute safety and acceptable risk
Explain how to pursue the concept of absolute safety. If safety cannot be confirmed, it is regarded as dangerous and stopped. The machine cannot be stopped immediately. In addition, the machine that performs the stop requires time, and it is impossible for a human to stop in advance. The expectation of safety is to prevent accidents, and the expected value of accidents that cannot be prevented must not be regarded as accidents. It is safe to stop before the accident and overtake the accident.
Pre-learning and post-learning (3  1 = 4 hours)
Pre-learning: Create a PowerPoint on how to never cause an accident.
Post-learning: Understand that alarm failure is fail-safe.

3.Organizational accidents and resilience
Inappropriate behavior of workers on site is the cause of the accident, but not the factor of the accident. Explain that equipment problems, safety management problems, and organizational problems exist in the system like pathogens and become prominent after an accident occurs.
Pre-learning and post-learning (3 + 1 = 4 hours)
Preliminary learning: Perform a factor analysis on airplane crash cases and create power points.

Evaluation
The class is evaluated based on the exercises conducted in each class, and a grade of "D" or higher is passed.
First exercise: 40 points
2nd exercise: 30 points
Third exercise: 30 points
100 points in total
