The aim of this class is to deepen understanding of the issues related to urban disaster prevention and to acquire the ability and thinking methods to creatively solve such issues.
Prerequisites
It is desirable to take a lecture on Earthquake and Multi-Hazard Engineering, Architectural Safety, Community Safety and Disaster Management in advance.

Class schedule
Anterior half;outline the various issues related to urban disaster prevention through lectures.
Posterior half;ask students to conduct research and presentations on the subjects below, and discuss them with subjects to deepen their understanding. 1st Week: Guidance Explain the purpose of this lecture and how to proceed. 2nd to 7th Week: Lectures the various issues related to urban disaster prevention. Lectures on the following issues; - Wide area large-scale disaster - Response to climate change - Land use based on disaster risk - Utilization of ICT for disaster prevention measures - Improvement of living environment for the evacuees - Gender equality and diversity - Provide disaster-affected people with shelter and rebuild disaster-affected people’s abilities to live autonomously - Improvement of the city areas with high concentration of wooden houses - Literacy for disaster prevention 8th to 14th Week: Presentation and discussion of case studies 15th Week: Review of the lecture on demand Evaluation
Evaluation; Discussion and presentation 50%, Final report 50%
