Goals and objectives
Based on the theme of the reconstruction process, deepen understanding of advance disaster prevention measures, initial response after the disaster, continuity of housing and urban policy. Especially understand the characteristics of the damage from type of disaster, the importance of planning unique regional recovery measures, and acquire such ability and way of thinking.

Discussion Debate/Presentation

Class schedule
Anterior half;view issues from the perspective of disaster prevention and reconstruction policy through reading and discussion of the literature.
Posterior half;discuss the safety of cities based on their own reports

1st Week: Guidance
Explain the purpose of this lecture and how to proceed.
2nd to 10th Week: Literature reading and discussion on urban reconstruction
Reading and discussion on the following issues.
· Points and challenges of modern reconstruction planning
· Basic condition of disaster-resistant city
· How to deal with initial response after the disaster
· The way of temporary living for the next generation
· Change in living style before and after the disaster
· Methodology of preliminary reconstruction policy
11th to 14th Week: Report discussion
Discuss comprehensively about changes in urban structure, living area and disaster prevention measures after reconstruction based on their own reports
15th Week: Review of the lecture.

Evaluation
Preparation (40%), Discussion at each lectures(30%), Final report(30%)
